The highly anticipated 2025 Central & Eastern Europe Private Equity Statistics report is officially out. Released through a joint effort by Invest Europe alongside law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel, this annual deep-dive provides the definitive look at the region’s financial health. The report delivers a clear, data-backed message: despite global crosscurrents, the CEE private capital ecosystem is experiencing resurgent divestment activity and a powerful surge in mid-market momentum.

A Massive Exit Rebound

The standout headline from the new data is a dramatic shift in exit activity. After a period of global macroeconomic caution, the CEE region roared back over the past year. Private equity exits reached €1.71 billion measured at historical investment cost—marking a 26% year-on-year increase and driving the second-best exit year on record. Strategic trade buyers led the charge, accounting for €1.04 billion (61%) of the total exit value across 30 companies, underlining the powerful appeal of regional businesses to international corporations seeking growth.

Geographically, Romania emerged as the region’s largest market for exits, setting a country record with €662 million in divestments at cost. Poland followed firmly in second place with €537 million while recording the highest overall volume of exits at 20 companies.

Capital in Motion: Fueling Regional Growth

The momentum isn't just about exits; it’s about raising and deploying critical new fuel. Total incremental fundraising in CEE reached €1.87 billion—hitting 21% above the prior five-year regional average. Buyout funds hit a multi-year high by climbing to €1 billion, while venture capital investments almost doubled to reach €675 million. Structurally, domestic CEE-based investors became the true powerhouse of the ecosystem, providing an impressive 56% of total capital raised as regional LPs heavily back the talent on their own doorstep.

The Big Picture: While an absence of mega transactions kept overall regional investment value modestly below the historical average at €2.57 billion, mid-market buyouts exploded by 52% to €780 million across a record 24 companies. This steady deployment of cash underscores both the maturity of CEE fund managers and the exceptionally high quality of deal flow originating in the region.
